연구분야
단백질은 모든 생명현상에 직접적으로 관여하여 하기 때문에 세균 부터 사람에 이르기까지 모든 생명체의 생명유지에 필수적인 요소이다. 단백질은 외부 혹은 세포 내 다양한 스트레스로 부터 쉽게 변성 된다. 따라서 생명체는 정교한 샤페론 (chaperone) 시스템을 통하여 세포 내의 단백질을 보호하고 항상성을 유지한다. 본 연구실은 감염성 세균과 공생 세균에서 단백질 항상성 시스템을 단백질 안정성 센서, 유전학, 유전체적 기법을 이용하여 동정하고, 이를 통해 발굴된 샤페론 단백질의 분자적 기작을 유전학적, 생화학적으로 규명하는 것을 목표로 한다. 궁극적으로 본 연구를 통한 확립된 지식을 바탕으로, 단백질 항상성 시스템을 타겟으로한 세균의 생장과 감염성을 조절할 수 있는 물질 탐색과 기술개발을 수행하고자 한다.
